A Unique Curriculum
Differentiated instruction is a way of teaching: It’s not a program or a package of worksheets, rather it’s a technique that requires teachers to know their students well. Our teachers provide each student with experiences and tasks that result in multiple ways to process information and maximize learning. Small flexible groups within a nurturing environment give young learners the attention they need to master new concepts.
The Lower School curriculum is rich with literature offered through classroom libraries, a Lower School Library and a Leveled Reading Library that contains more than 7,000 leveled texts for both guided and independent reading. Our teachers bring reading to life through multi-disciplinary projects throughout the year, such as Poetry Explosion in second grade, the Book Characters performance in third grade and the Famous Americans presentations in fourth grade.
